‘Unpackaged’ cherries not unpackaged

‘Unpackaged’ is trendy. Avoid as much plastic as possible. In a Dusseldorf Real supermarket however, this is probably not completely understood. An employee of the fruit and vegetable department has been unpacking the cherries from their 500gr plastic boxes, then putting the fruit on a pile named 'unpackaged'. These cherries can then be repackaged, in plastic bags, by the customers.

Express.de reported on Real promoting ‘unpackaged cherries’ that could be bought at a special price. When asked, the company explained that normally unpackaged cherries are delivered, but that there were problems with the supplier. There were quality problems, so an alternative had to be cooked up. The solution they chose would, however, be an absolute exception.
