Peru: The ATA Carnet will benefit exporters

The Association of Exporters (Adex) highlighted the recent decision taken by the Congress of the Republic to approve the Convention on Temporary Importation, better known as the ATA Carnet, a tool that will benefit national exporters to send their samples without problems to 78 countries.

According to the union, some of the main benefits of this tool are that producers won't have to pay tariffs when they enter their products to other countries and that they will only have to present a customs document and the payment of an international guarantee once a year.

This mechanism is expected to help unify the different treatments for the simplification and harmony of the temporary importation customs regime, in order to standardize the documentation and customs processes, which will help reduce time and costs.

Legislative Resolution No. 30808 was published on July 5 and highlights the approval of this agreement, adopted on June 26, 1990 in the city of Istanbul, Turkey.
