Onion growers from Kirikhan in the city of Hatay, located in southern border of Turkey, are happy with the current price levels at the market but noted that productivity has declined a bit over the last few years.
The harvest of onions started in the first week of June and the prices are around 0.4 – 0.5 USD per kg at the growers. Growers usually harvest between 5 to 7 tons of onions per 11,000 square feet.
