Peru: Interesting growth of banana exports
During the first five months of this year, Peru exported 105,397,934 kilos of banana for an FOB value of US $ 76,132,012. These figures reveal an interesting growth over the same period of 2017, when the country shipped 86,864,993 kilos for US $ 64,710,051.
According to the Agrodata Peru portal, the largest destination of these Peruvian exports between January and May was the Netherlands, where 35% of the total shipments were placed. It was followed by the United States (29%), Germany (9%), South Korea (7%), Belgium (6%), Finland (4%); Japan, Panama, and the United Kingdom with 2% each; as well as Italy and Canada with 1% each.
According to the same source, the companies that made the most exports in the aforementioned period were: Pronatura EIRL with shipments for US $6,754,000; Cooperativa Agraria APPBOSA (US $6,064,000), Agronegocios Los Angeles SAC (US $4,987,000), Association of Producers of Organic Banana Valle del Chira (US $3,812,000), and the Association of Small Organic Producers of Querecotillo (US $3,722,000).
