Market price goes down

China: Potatoes enter market in bulk

The price of potatoes in the Wanbang Market showed a downward trend last week. The average price of potatoes is 1.5 yuan [0.23 USD] per kg, which is a decrease of 14.29% in comparison with the previous week. The main reasons for this development are as follows: first, the supply volume is large. The supply last week mainly came from production areas in Shandong, Hebei, and locally from Henan. The local potatoes were ready last week and began to enter the market. Their price is relatively cheap, which brought down the overall price. Second, the potatoes can not endure storage for a long time. Temperatures last week remained high, which makes it more difficult to store potatoes for a long time.
