Photo report London Produce Show 2018

Last week the London Produce Show held its 5th edition at the Grosvenor Hotel in central London. The show as always took place over three days with a conference day, trade show day and industry tours on the last day.

Foodservice Industry Conference
The speakers at the conference looked at the future eating and drinking trends and the role of fresh produce in health and well being. There was also a chef demonstration and panel discussions.

Trade show day
The show saw a very busy morning with many visitors, the crowds thinned out a bit in the afternoon. There were many new stand holders this year but also some who had been there from the first event 5 years ago.

South America was well represented with stand holders from Chile, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador and the Dominican Republic and also some Spanish companies.

The Chilean citrus committee was present, they expect an increase in export volume this year. Colombia brought two exporters, one big in avocado and one big in pineapple export. Peru and the Dominican Republic were there to promote the countries and connect potential buyers with the people from their country. Ecuador brought different exporters this year to the exhibition, one in avocado which is the first time they have brought an avocado exporter.

The US were also present through various associations and companies. South Africa was represented mostly through the UK partners. Most of the UK companies present have been attending since the start but there were a few new faces.

From Europe there were Spanish, Italian companies as well a few companies from The Benelux.

The Media Masterclass also took place on Thursday afternoon. This year Dr Rupy Aujla, founder of the Doctor's Kitchen gave a talk and demonstrations.


On Friday the retail tours included a production tour hosted by Wilkin & Sons as well as the retail, New Spitalfields Market and Reynolds Food Service tours.
