Mangosteen enters the market in large volumes in June. The price of mangosteen in Nan'an market has dropped from 20 yuan [3.11 USD] per 0.5 kg early in the season to 10 yuan [1.56 USD] per 0.5 kg now that mangosteen has entered the market in large volumes. Nearly all the mangosteen on the market are imported from Thailand. There are also supplies from Malaysia and Vietnam, but the Thai mangosteen is sweeter with a more exquisite flavor.
The price of Thai mangosteen is 13-17 yuan [2.02-2.65 USD] per 0.5 kg. The price of Malaysian and Vietnamese mangosteen is in general 1-2 yuan [0.16-0.31 USD] lower. People in the industry say that the lowest price of mangosteen on the Nan'an market was 8 yuan [1.25 USD] per 0.5 kg. The current price is already much lower than earlier this season, and supply is abundant, so there is more room for the price to come down.
