Wrong label on apples at Aldi Nord leads to confusion

'Goods from Germany' originate in New Zealand

Recently there was riot on the net about Aldi-Nord selling apples labelled 'Goods from Germany', while the country of origin was New Zealand. "This is how the consumers are being duped," says the Facebook post.

The discounter has now explained to Der Westen, how this error could occur. They had contacted the supplier directly and it became clear that the labeling of the apples was a regrettable mistake. The supplier had used the wrong template for labeling. The apples actually come from New Zealand, but were incorrectly labelled with stickers "Goods from Germany".
