Table potatoes: competition from the Mediterranean increased sales pressure

Domestic warehoused goods lost some importance. An appealing quality usually ensured continuous sales. On some occasions, competition from Mediterranean goods increased the sales pressure somewhat. However, traders were usually able to keep their prices at the current level. Imports of ready-to-eat potatoes from Italy and Cyprus grew. Moroccan shipments supplemented the ranges. Furthermore, Sieglindes from Malta and Spuntas from Spain arrived. Demand has grown. The supply, however, increased so much that distributors sometimes had to compromise. This was primarily the case for Italian goods. The products from Cyprus were often sold at relatively constant prices, which sometimes made business difficult. However, the lower prices led to an additional acceleration of sales.
