GEISER agro.com will soon move into a brand new competence center

Swiss wholesaler is about to move

In order to meet the ever-growing needs of the market, and to continue to satisfy customers in terms of quality, performance and product safety, GEISER agro.com AG is building a new high-performance competence center with a storage capacity of around 2,000 tonnes of dessert fruit and a next-generation apple sorter. State-of-the-art technology for processing, storage and packaging of dessert fruit will make it possible to supply customers with high-quality products throughout the year, taking into account the highest standards in terms of water and energy efficiency.

Below: an impression of the future building

The new building, with a construction volume of around 115,000 m3, is located at an ideal location directly besides the A1 motorway in Rüdtligen-Alchenflüh. In order to make better use of synergies, the new service center was built next to the current building of the Potato Competence Center, Terralog AG.

Commissioning & reopening
In keeping with forward-looking and progressive GEISER values, the commissioning of the state-of-the-art performance center is scheduled for August 2018. On the site of approx. 22,000 m2, a multi-storey business building with a floor area of around 7,000 m2 and a total floor area of 17,000 m2 was built. In the basement, warehouse space of 5,690 m2 has already been let.

The impressive project is another important milestone and groundbreaking step into the future of the group. The approximately 150 jobs of GEISER agro.com AG have been retained at the new location. The new headquarters will enrich the region with another attractive employer and highly modern workplaces. The inauguration of this new location will be celebrated with an open house, which is expected to take place in the fall of 2018. Further information on the event and the reopening will be available in the summer of 2018 on the homepage: www.geiser-agro.com.

Old & new crop year
Following the new construction plans, the management of the major wholesale company also summarizes the current market situation in the area of pome fruit. If the weather stays constant and the fruit trees continue to enjoy mild temperatures, GEISER agro.com looks forward to a very pleasing apple and pear harvest. As a result, the new storage facilities are expected to be fully booked for the upcoming season, especially when compared to the past season, which has caused the top fruit sector due to frost damage to great challenges.

Never before were the Swiss fruit trees in so much trouble as in the spring of 2017, which has led to a country-wide harvest loss of 40 percent. Despite the great challenges, GEISER agro.com was always able to offer a full range of the most crunchy apples and pears.
