US: The first avocado museum to open in June

The fever for avocados is not new. And yes, it's still so strong that, some months ago, a millionaire and Australian real estate mogul had to advise young people to stop buying avocado toast if they wanted to pay for their future homes.

This fruit, which every so often monopolizes the covers of the financial media due to its price increases and the avocado crisis, has become a cult food. Thus, its no surprise that the first museum of avocado will be opened in June will in San Diego (California).

The museum will be called The Cado. It will be 2,042 m2 and have seven different rooms, where visitors will find artistic installations, a room where people can learn to recognize a good avocado by touching the textures of the walls and, of course, many opportunities to taste many preparations of the best local varieties.

But this is not all, Avocado Bars have started to proliferate like mushrooms and the first edition of the Avocado Week, a four-day festival that pays homage to this tropical fruit, was held in April.

But what exactly is an Avocado bar? Do they serve avocado juice instead of beer? Not quite. The Avocado Show, the first European bar exclusively dedicated to avocado was born in Amsterdam in 2017.

The Avocado Show is located in one of the city's most hipster area -the district of De Pijp- and it has adapted its menus according to the growing need of its customers, who wanted to eat dishes made with this fruit. They sell classic avocado toast and other more risky creations, such as The Burger Bun, a hamburger in which the avocado replaces bread.

Rome also has an Avocado Bar. It was opened a few months ago in the Monti neighborhood and it offers sweet and savory dishes with this tropical fruit: from hamburgers to tacos, as well as salads and smoothies.

Shoreditch in London has also joined the trend with Belli Fresch, a place that uses an average of 400 avocados a day to prepare their dishes. Meanwhile, Brooklyn has more than one Avocado Bar. The Avocaderia, which was founded in 2017 by three young Italians: Francesco Brachetti, Alberto Gramini and Alessandro Biggi, was the first to open.

The question is, how long before this new trend arrives in Spain? Will the avocado run out before the fever or will it be the other way around? We'll find out soon.
