Low processing prices force the export of Argentinian lemons

A lot more Argentinian lemons are going to be exported this year. This is a result of the low processing prices. It is expected that export volumes will be more than 30% higher this year. In week 11, the first exports to Ukraine began. These were still limited quantities. In week 12, Russia, Canada, and Greece were added as sales destinations. In the first few weeks, Citrusvil was, by far, the most significant Argentinian exporter.

The bulk of the Argentinian lemon exports are primarily aimed at Ukraine and Russia. They are, now, starting to pack in for the European market. These shipments are expected to arrive in the Netherlands by the end of May. This week the European supply was made up of mostly Spanish Primofiori lemons. However, the season started late. It will be followed up by Verna lemons.
