The corporate strategy of Frutco AG for the long-term safeguarding of present and future resources, lies in direct commitment at the source. Because of the stable political situation in that nation, Nicaragua is ideal to realize such projects. The government protects investments, at the same time providing great independence, as well as cooperation.
The 20 million dollar project CHIMACO AG (Farms) Frutco de las Americas SA (Fruit Processing) has become a center for sustainability, training farmers and growing great Maracuya fruit. CHIMACO is the name of the Chinandega Maracuya Company, that now has more than 100 employees.
Frutco AG and CHIMACO SA are currently cultivating 200 hectares of land. By working the processing plant of Frutco de las Americas SA, a joint venture between Holding CT Finance AG and Grupo Coen in Nicaragua - www.grupocoen.com - they will become another independent producer with approximately 1,500 hectares of Maracuya fruit and guava. This will give them the opportunity to process this fruit into concentrates, juices and purees, with Grupo Coen contributing an additional 2,000 hectares of banana plantations. There are also sufficient land reserves available for future expansion projects.
