Increase in Vietnamese fruit and veg imports to EU

According to the European Commission, Vietnamese fruit and vegetable imports reached $130 billion in 2017. Fruit and vegetable imports from outside of the EU increased by 2.8% compared to 2016 reaching $40 billion.

The EU is one of the largest fruit and vegetable importers, representing 50% of total worldwide imports. Vietnam only represents 0.9% of the imports due to different production standards in terms of hygiene and health requirements. However, measures will be taken to comply with HACCP and GlobalGAP norms in order for Vietnam to have a wider access to the EU market.
