Migros launches new 'Social Shopping' platform: Amigos

On the Plattform AMIGOS, people who want to have their purchases delivered to their home will meet those who are happy to take on this task. The pilot project will start on April 6, 2018 in the Zurich and Bern area. The social, interpersonal aspect is central.

Migros customers will be able to shop for each other, starting this April. Buyers can shop quickly and easily online. The deliverer will accept the order via the app and will deliver the purchases to the customer's home. AMIGOS - like Migros - belongs to the people. There are people who would be glad if somebody would bring them their Migros shopping because they have little time or are restricted in their movements. And there are people who would like to serve others and earn some pocket money.

AMIGOS will bring these people together, starting April 23rd. The new "Social Shopping" platform from Migros is really simple. The customer enters his shopping list online with just a few clicks. For those who have previously registered on AMIGOS and are close to the customer, a push message appears on the AMIGOS app. Any deliverer who has the time and/or inclination, can take over the purchase request. He makes the purchases and brings them personally to the customer.

Both sides benefitting
AMIGOS has advantages for those who order and those who deliver. Those who order save time and effort and will get their groceries delivered to their front door. A minimum order does not exist. In return, those who deliver receive a credit for the fulfilment of the order: CHF 7.90 (€6.70) for the first shopping bag and CHF 2.00 (€1.70) for each additional bag. The customer pays the amount to the deliverer. So all proceeds go to the people who deliver. Migros does not make a profit.

This completes Migros' online shopping opportunities with a completely new service. The focus is not on financial considerations, but on the desire to bring Migros customers closer together.
