Apple prices have reached their upper limit

A cool February revived the demand on Lake Constance. At the beginning of February, the marketing of Boskoop and Rubinette was completed and the export business was almost stalling.

During the days of carnival, the sales pace was a little lower. Because the days were still cold, citrus fruits were more in demand, which has postponed the sales of stored supplies.

All varieties lacked small calibres for various programs, such as school fruit, etc. Braeburn was sold at the beginning of March. The stores on Lake Constance are almost gone; in two weeks the Golden Delicious will be gone, in three weeks Fuji and in four weeks Gala Royal.

The prices reached their peak at the end of March and will probably not increase any further due to cheaper goods from Italy and overseas. The prices for Bodenseeäpfel have been fixed since week 08, so it has not been listed since.

According to AMI, German stocks were still 112,786 tonnes in March. That was a deficit of 54% over the previous year. Until week 10, the German offers of Elstar, Jonagold and Braeburn dominated. The ever-widening gap was supplemented with goods from Italy, France, Poland and the Netherlands.

Since week 13, produce from overseas has supplemented the ranges with Gala Royal from South Africa. In the next few weeks, goods from the southern hemisphere will increasingly come to us, closing the gaps.

In week 12, prices remained unchanged, rising just slightly. The prices for dessert apples are now at a high level around 95 €/dt.
