Colombia: Drugs found in a shipment of mangosteens destined for Hong Kong

Colombian police seized 33.2 kilos of cocaine that were hidden in a shipment of mangosteens that was going to be shipped to Hong Kong through the El Dorado airport in Bogota.

The shipment of fruit arrived at the cargo terminal of El Dorado on Tuesday in a van, and, since it was a delicate freight, the authorities had to check it in order to avoid pathogen contamination, the Anti-narcotics Police stated.

During the inspection of the cargo through the X-ray scanner, the agents found no irregular objects inside the boxes that would make them suspect there were drugs in the shipment, but a policeman decided an anti drug dog should test out the fruit before it was stored.

The dog located the drug that was hidden in small latex bags inside the fruits, which were then perfectly closed with silicone.

To camouflage the cocaine, the fruit's pulp had been replaced by small quantities of the drug.
