Globus and Organic Farming Association Demeter extend cooperation

The Globus hypermarkets are strengthening their cooperation with Organic Farming Association Demeter, including an even larger selection of Demeter-certified organic products in their range. As well as some 70 items from Demeter's "Campo Verde" brand, customers will be able to expect more than 150 fresh and dry products, fruits and vegetables and baby and toddler food from Demeter-certified farmers and food manufacturers in all Globus markets from 12th March onwards.

"The Demeter Association is considered a quality leader in the organic sector, so we are all the more pleased to be able to offer our customers a wider selection of certified products," says Johannes Scupin, spokesman for Globus SBWarenhäuser. Germany's oldest organic association stands for biodynamic agriculture, the highest food quality and sustainability.

Demeter's requirements go far beyond those of the EU Eco-Regulations. "All partners in the value chain are certified according to Demeter guidelines, which set high standards for cultivation, animal husbandry and processing," explains Demeter CEO Alexander Gerber. "There are special requirements for distributors of Demeter products, such as product placement, customer information, staff training and sustainability management, and the Demeter community shares core values such as respect for nature, a holistic understanding of quality and fair trading partnerships."

Globus expands its extensive organic range with Demeter
With the enlarged Demeter range, the Globus stores are expanding their extensive selection of organic foods. In total, around 3,000 organic products are on the shelves. At the cheese counter, customers can choose from over 30 organic cheeses year-round, and in the fruit and vegetable department, seasonally, more than 70 varieties of fresh organic fruit are on offer. "We are pleased to announce the addition of more than 150 Demeter-certified products, complementing our organic segment with an absolute premium brand," says Johannes Scupin.

A fixed component of the range consists of some 900 Alnatura products as well. For more than ten years, Globus has been working in close partnership with the organic food manufacturer. Together, the companies want to do something meaningful for people and nature. In addition to Demeter, Globus cooperates with the farmers’ associations Naturland and Bioland and is a founding member of the "Working Group on Ecologically Committed Grocers and Druggists" (ÖLD). Since the beginning of 2017, Globus has been working together with other grocers in the "Bund Ökologischer Lebensmittelwirtschaft eV" (BÖLW), to which the Demeter Association belongs as well. Globus promotes a conscious diet and lifestyle to its customers through tasting events and seminars on commodities or nutritional advice in the individual markets.
