China: New Zealand apples already on the market in Guangzhou

New Zealand is experiencing the earliest apple harvest in decades. Warm weather has not only brought the season forward, it had also increased the size of the apples. Good-sized, ''very clean and presentable'' apples with ''very good colour'' were expected.

That said, some of the earliest apples have already found their way to the Guangzhou import market. "This years apples are two weeks earlier as usual", an importer from Guangzhou commented.

Early fruit is sold at high prices, and the apples are traded around 250 Yuan per box.

These early New Zealand Gala apples are being sold under the Tiger Brand.
