Listeria scare:

More nations banning Australian rock melons

This week, following a similar decision by the United Arab Emirates, the nations of Bahrain and Indonesia have also temporarily banned the import of rock melons from Australia.

The decision to ban imported melons is due to the extraordinary occurrence of Listeria monocytogenes bacteria contamination in Australia - which to date has resulted in four deaths.

According to macaunews.mo, in the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, a total of 26 kilogrammes of rock melons from New South Wales has been recalled, as they were suspect as well.
