China: Shaanxi Xi'an Fruit (Fuzhou) promotional event

Recently, the Shaanxi Xi'an Fruit (Fuzhou) promotional event was held at the Haixia Fruit Market. Zhou Xinmin, agronomist at the Xi'an Agriculture and Forestry Committee, explains that there are several protected products from Xi'an with a Geographical Indication, namely Zhouzhi kiwis, Lintong pomegranates, Lintong Huo Jing persimmons, Baqiao cherries, Huxian grapes, Chang'an peaches, Lantian apricots, and Yanliang dates. These are famous all over China. Zhouzhi kiwis have a production area of 42,000 hectares (420,000 mu), and an annual production of almost 520,000 tons. Lintong pomegranates have a total production area of 10,000 hectares (100,000 mu), and an annual production of 80,000 tons. Fan Hailong, the deputy bureau chief of Shaanxi Fruit Industry Bureau, states that Shaanxi is a huge producer of fruit. Its production area and quantity for apples and kiwis is the biggest in all of China.
