Pasquariello will also start commercialising fruit

"2017 saw an increase in turnover of around 20% and a general expansion of cultivated areas. The year was good also in terms of quantities and we have always obtained the best price on the market. We can't complain," explains Giovanni Pasquarieli, owner of Azienda Agricola Pasquariello Giovanni.

In particular, Giovanni talks about the courgette season, which helped increase the turnover. "It was the first year we have imported the produce to England and Germany, and it went very well. Brexit could be a problem, we will have to deal with it when the time comes."

Fennel prices are stable at the moment and quantities are increasing. "Quotations were very low before Christmas, but have increased since the start of the year. The festivities pushed commercialisation and demand is rather good with quotations of €0.70-0.80 for the produce destined abroad. 70% of the produce is shipped to France, followed by Switzerland, Germany and Poland."

Demand for filmed broccoli destined to exports increased towards the end of 2017. "It dropped a little at the start of the year, but prices are still good at around €1.00/kg at origin. 90% of broccoli (filmed) and cauliflowers (filmed but mostly crowned) are destined to Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Poland."

What's new in 2018
A PO will be established and the company will start cooperating with other companies both inside and outside it. In addition, the company will start working with fruit as well: "we want to increase volumes processed and help small local businesses."

"We will attend Fruit Logistica 2018 together with Losito-Fruttapulia, which specialises in grapes, persimmons and asparagus as a testimony to the collaborations that can be created in the fresh produce sector."

In addition to owner Giovanni Pasquariello, an interpreter and warehouse manager Marianna Martino will also attend the fair (Hall 4.2, Stand B-12 - Regione Puglia collective stand).
