"Second and third tier cities are driving force behind growing imported fruit market"
"The Chinese imported fruit industry has been developing very fast for the past ten years, and it has now become relatively stable. Many products have gained the approval of the Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, and the distributed quantities have reached a rather high level," said Mr. Huang Xianhua of Freshport Information & Service Platform.

"The quantities of imported fruit will continue to grow, but this will gradually slow down. While the breeds and production areas are diversifying, the fruit import structure will also change, influenced by the developments in the national fruit industry. The improvement of the fruit quality and the diversification of the breeds, for example, will influence the Chinese fruit export. Chinese fruit epidemics, such as the citrus greening disease, will also lead to an increase in the demand for imported oranges."

"Second and third tier cities will be the new driving force behind future growth. As the consumers' incomes are growing, the demand for high quality imported fruit, and especially western products, will gradually increase. The market now mostly has Chinese and tropical fruits, but local sellers are also trying to cross the borders. One of the focal points of Freshport is that we help companies who are just setting out to go abroad."

"Freshport started two years ago. Because of the fast development of the industry, traditional services were unable to satisfy the industry's growing demands. We are aiming to offer the industry a better service. The main investor of Freshport is the Ou Heng Group, a service provider for the imported fruit industry. The target groups for our services are both fresh fruit importers and exporters on the Chinese market. Ou Heng Group has already been helping the industry for 15 years. They are offering several services, such as distribution market management, import agents, customs inspection, and international and national distribution, including air transport."

"Freshport is now offering its Chinese customers several services, such as online distribution management, supply chain finances, SAAS storage and sales management systems, consignment taxation, and information demonstrations. We offer our foreign customers price reports for the Chinese market, industry promotion and marketing, information demonstrations, and trade matchmaking. Freshport is now connecting with fruit alliances in various countries, to help the promotion of the Chinese market, and to connect resources in order to form a bridge between the Chinese and international industry."

"The founder of Freshport, Mr. Xu Zheng, has now appointed himself CEO of the recently constructed Xinghai Guang Xing Market that open at the end of August next year. This means that we can obtain even more market resources, and therefore offer better services to our customers. The opening of the new Jiaxing Market will bring together Chinese and imported fruits, and will become a center for fruit distribution in East China."
