China: Majority of Anqiu ginger companies resume production
"The Environmental Impact Assessment Group investigated Anqiu ginger companies in August, and forced over 90% of them to close. At that time, the ginger export price rose rapidly. Foreign customers complained repeatedly, and for some time, the export was almost at a standstill. After two months of strict reforms, almost 70% of the companies in Anqiu have now resumed production," according to Mr. Charlie of Anqiu Baisheng Food Co Ltd.

"The ginger price of the 2016 harvest has now fallen back. The harvest of new ginger of 2017 started last week, and will finish in 20 days. It is estimated that they can be exported in December. The current ginger price is now similar to the old one, and just a little bit higher than before the intervention of the Environmental Impact Assessment Group."

"Currently, the Anqiu ginger producers have received relatively few orders. This is mainly because the 2016 ginger export was almost at an end, and there were stricter controls on resources and product quality. Another factor is that the ginger sales to Europe were rather big before the intervention of the Environmental Investigation Group, which kept piling up."
