Promoting avocado cultivation in northwestern Peru

A total of 5,200 Hass avocado seedlings will be delivered to the 'Civil Association for the Development of Valles de Oro Cajamarca, La Libertad, Amazonas', located in the village of San Vicente in the province of Bolivar, in La Libertad.

According to farmer, Francisco Díaz Llaja, there are approximately 500 avocado producers with an area that exceeds 200 hectares of production in this part of the north-east of the country.

"It's about getting our avocado producers to bet on the hass avocado, which is an agro export product that will allow them to have better profits. The Association has already started to get support through the 'Procompite B' program," said Hernan Aquino.

After the delivery of more than 5 thousand Hass avocado plants, the Regional Management of Agriculture of La Libertad, will continue to provide technical, permanent assistance.
