This morning, the first batch of Luzhou longans was transported by truck to Macao, after it had passed the inspections by the Luzhou Inspection and Quarantine Bureau. This is the first time that the Luzhou fruit has been directly transported to Macao. The fruit was produced by the Lu County Shu Long Longan Professional Cooperative Alliance. This first batch was 5 tons, and had a value of 100,000 yuan.
Luzhou is also called the home of the Chinese longan. Its longans have a tender pulp, bright colors, sweet juice, and a delicious taste, and they are known for their sweetness and multivitamins. Luzhou has a total longan production area of 30,000 hectares (300,000 mu), producing 80,000 tons with a value of 800 million yuan. Because longans miss the peak period in the coastal areas, there is a shortage of longans on the market from September until October. Its popularity on the market makes it one of the top local income-generating industries for farmers. This first export to Macao, it is hoped, will bring about more exports of Luzhou agricultural products.
