China: Statement from AVI about Arraone grapes
Our company represents the Grapa Company Limited ("Grapa"). We are the sole representative of ARRA grapes, including those that are registered and receive protection in the European Union, according to the EU Council (EC) regulations on Community Plant Variety Rights.
In Europe, there are currently no authorized producers of Arraone grapes. That is why we want you to know that any illegal production and commercialization of these protected grapes is an infringement on the EU Plant Variety Rights. This could mean liability for the involved commercial chain and retailers as well.
Lately, it has attracted our attention that illegal Arraone grapes are being sold under the name "Autumn Giant", as well as other names.
AVI hopes that this information will be useful for you, and that it can help you in managing your business, while completely complying with the relevant laws. We assume that, if we do not receive your reply, your company will only handle fruit from authorized, legal producers and distributors.
