AVI warns of unlicensed grapes on the European market
AVI has put out a warning to companies in the EU about the unlicensed marketing of several of their grape varieties, including ARRA and ARRAONE.
"AVI is the exclusive European agent for the commercialisation of the ARRA varieties of seedless table grapes, including the white variety ARRAONE, having US Patent PP17,223 P3/ 21.11.2006 and PBR EU 43523/10.05.2016 registrations."
"We represent the Grapa Company, exclusive master licensee of all of the ARRA table grape varieties, including with the protection of the varieties duly registered and protected in the EU according to the EU Council Regulation (EC) on Community Plant Variety Rights."
"We would kindly bring to your attention that in Europe there are currently no authorised producers of the ARRAONE variety and therefore we want you to be aware that such production and commercialisation of grapes from a protected variety from illegal sources would infringe the existing EU plant variety rights, irrespective of the denomination used, and could imply legal responsibilities also for the commercial chain, retailers included."
"Please be advised that it has recently come to our attention that illegal grapes of the ARRAONE variety are being marketed under the name "Autumn Giant" or other names."
