The production area of Jinxiang garlic was around 59.000 hectares (590.000 mu) this year, which is 6000 hectares (60.000 mu) more than last year. Because of that, and the good weather, this year's production quantity has increased.
Currently, 2.5 million tons of garlic have been stored. This is 50% more than last year. The storage capacity of Jinxiang and its surroundings is now almost saturated. On the garlic market, the supply is bigger than the demand. The price has now dropped from 2.7 yuan in the middle of June to 2.3 yuan, and it will remain weak. Simultaneously, because of the large-scale promotion of garlic this year, farmers are continuously increasing their production area. However, the production capacity for dried garlic is only limited, so new garlic cannot be cut and sold in time. Considering this, the garlic price will not rise again in the short term.
