Fruitimprese data on fresh produce trade during the first four months of 2017

The balance of the first four months of 2017 was €339 million, i.e. 29% more than last year. Exports dropped by 9.3% with a 2.5% increase in value, while imports increased by 5.1% with a 2.7% drop in value. 

During the period examined, Italy exported approximately 1.31 million tons of produce for €1.63 billion in total.

There was a drop in the flow of vegetables (-14%), citrus fruit (-22.2%) and fresh fruit (-4%) and a slight increase for dried fruit (0.8%). As regards value, the signs were positive for vegetables (7.4%) and fresh fruit (4.8%) and negative for citrus fruit (-13.7%) and dried fruit (14.7%).

Between January and April, Italy imported 1.31 million tons for a value of €1.29 billion.

There was an increase in the volumes of fresh fruit (0.3%), citrus fruit (63.9%), dried fruit (1.8%) and tropical fruit (2.9%) while vegetables dropped (-2.9%). As regards value, the sign was negative for tropical fruit (-24.5%) and dried fruit (-19.5) while it was positive for fresh fruit (8.2%), vegetables (16.6%) and citrus fruit (52.8%).
