Chinese market has large demand for Canadian cherries

This has been a symbolic year for cherry merchants from Okanogan city (Canada): more than 80% of their cherries have been exported to overseas markets. Cherry merchants reveal that the current market demand has already exceeded our supply. Consumers on the Chinese market are willing to pay higher prices for products of superior quality, so Canadian cherry producers and merchants can make great profits from this.

Two years ago, the province of British Columbia in Canada facilitated a trade agreement that permitted cherry producers and merchants to import to the Chinese market without any restrictions. In 2015, cherry exports from British Columbia to the Chinese market had reached the record-breaking total value of 29.7 million USD. In 2016, due to the reduced output, exports dropped by 40%, which accounted for only 16.8 milion USD.
