According to Victor Mercado, the Projects Manager for Frio Aereo, this logistics operator seeks to implement a new operations center in Pisco. The company currently operates alongside the Jorge Chavez airport (Lima).
"We are betting on being in other locations. The Pisco airport has the necessary conditions to be functional and open its doors to aircraft for export. We have acquired a space around the air terminal to operate when the time comes," he said.
He also said that they do not rule out the possibility of implementing their service in Chiclayo and Iquitos, and that they were carrying out studies on the export potential that the terminals in those cities would have.
Frio Aereo's mainly works with asparagus (88% of the total), but in recent years they have increased their shipments of fruits such as mango, blueberry, grape, strawberry, garnet, flowers, and figs, among others.
Services
The main services offered by Frio Aereo are cold storage for products that are exported by air and the service of palletizing and consolidated cargo so that it can be transported.
"We specialize in vegetable perishables for air shipments. There are other companies that provide similar services and that work with several types of products, but we are dedicated only to fresh vegetables, which eliminates any possibility of contamination," said the representative of Frio Aereo.
He added that air shipments had three key advantages: speed; reach (as they could reaches more places than sea transport) and security, as there was enough regulation for the dispatches.
Frio Aereo was founded in 1997 by a group of businessmen who saw the need to have a refrigerated warehouse that complied with conditions of preservation, safety and security that allowed products to be more competitive in international markets.
