With the entrance of new growers that also grow organic citrus and new partners to the company in last December (Avocado Gal agricultural cooperative), Galilee Export will now enter the organic marketing.
"As always we are relying on our growers and, as their marketing arm, we will handle all the products aimed for export" explained Dror Eigerman Galilee Export CEO. "We will become the biggest exporter of organic citrus out of Israel in the coming season and will also handle other organic products, such as avocados, peppers, dates and more."
The second largest exporter in Israel expects to send most volume to Europe. "Organic has its limits in regards to shelf life, that is why Europe will be our main destination." Also the prices will be higher for organics. "With lower yield and regulations, it will have an impact on the prices. For dates this will be limited as it won't change a lot on the growing process, so it may go up to 10%. If we speak about citrus and the other products, this can go up from 20-40%."
Rafi Zuri head of the Citrus Department is confident on the ability of Galilee Export to handle the organic citrus. "The organic citrus was exported last season by a different exporter, so I believe we will continue supplying the same markets. Adding to that the ability and strength of our company will give us added value to the customers."
