China: First box of Macao oranges for sale - Lapin cherries enter the market

The brand of the first box of Macao oranges is not the frequently seen Honey Murcott, but Fremont. Fremont is a medium sized orange breed, flat and oval, bright red, with an easy skin, low calories, but a lot of vitamin C. The skin of the Fremont oranges that have now arrived in Shanghai is still green and they taste a little sour. That is why they are not very popular on the market. However, the price of the first box of oranges of this season is still set at 230-240 yuan/box (10 kg). It is reported that the Honey Murcott oranges, which are so popular on the Chinese market, will be harvested and sold in July.

However, the quality is not stable, as the production is reaching the end of the season. This means that the price differences between products of different qualities are getting bigger. This weekend, the price of Egyptian oranges is between 110 and 130 yuan, but the sales speed is decreasing. On the the other hand, the late lane oranges from America are already in their final period, but their price is still stable. The sales speed barely seems to be influenced by the holidays. The price continues to be between 360 and 380 yuan. The stability of this season's American oranges brings great expectations for the beginning of the Australian orange season.

This week, Californian cherries have landed on the airport of Zhengzhou for the first time. The majority of the products will be sold in Shanghai. According to the sellers, the quality of this batch will not be very good. Several problems have arisen, such as sticks that have fallen off, and cherries that have gone too soft. Bing cherries, for example, were sold for around 450-470 yuan for high quality products, and only for 370-400 yuan for cherries of lesser quality. This is not the only case. The quality of the Californian Lapin cherries that entered the market this week was also very unsatisfactory. The fruits were soft and tasteless, but the skins were thick. That is why the sales speed has slowed down drastically. A bag of 2.5kg had a price of 220 yuan. It is reported that the Huazhou cherries usually enter the market around the middle of June.
