Italy: Kiwi Sweeki stirs interest in China and Taiwan

"Good business contacts in the international arena and new expressions of interest from leading Italian companies for the Origine Group project." The leaders of the consortium that groups nine large Italian companies in the horticultural sector expressed their satisfaction with their participation in Macfrut.

"We met with several customers from the Far East, between China and Taiwan, that believe in our Sweeki project, the brand with which we want to promote, in Italy and the world, the high quality Hayward kiwi produced in Italy," stated general manager Alessio Orlandi. "These contacts will help us schedule the 2017-2018 campaign in time. We firmly believe in the markets of the Far East, which have given clear signs of their interest. At the beginning of January, just when the first container of the Sweeki brand of kiwifruit arrived in China, we organized several promotional activities which had very positive results in the horticultural market of Guangzhou (Canton) and in a chain of supermarkets. In Rimini, we've also met with representatives of multinational chains that are present in the Far East, which requested information about the Sweeki project."

Another positive sign during the fair, added CEO Alberto Garbuglia, "was the interest that several Italian companies had in the Origine Group, a model of unison that can expand with the incorporation of new players and new competencies."

Garbuglia also said that they had ended promotional activities for the Sweeki kiwi in Spain in recent weeks with a very positive balance. "The tastings and events in and outside MercaMadrid and in the heart of the Spanish capital have confirmed that our premium kiwi brand had a good reception, it is very well valued for its quality, sweetness and excellent value for money, which satisfies a demand for a high-quality alternative to the dominant brand in the Spanish market," he said.
