In the first four months of the year, Peruvian exports of oregano amounted to US $ 5,701,959, i.e. 56% more than the US $ 3,655,127 it exported in the same period of 2016.
This was indicated by AgrodataPeru, which pointed out that, in terms of volume, Peru had exported 1,552,235 kilos of oregano during January-April 2017, i.e. 11% less than the 1,744,943 kilos it exported in the first four months of the previous year.
In the first quarter of 2017 oregano prices reached US $ 3.67 per kilo, while the average price achieved in the same months of 2016 was US $ 2.09 per kilo.
The main destination market for Peruvian oregano is Brazil. It is followed by Spain, Chile, and Argentina.
The main exporting companies were: Aromatico Inversiones, which exported US $1,254,431, i.e. 22% of the total value; Estela y Compañia, with 14%; Agro Fergi, with 12%, and Sabor Peruano de Exportacion, with 9%.
They were followed by Productos Vegetales de Exportacion, with 6%; Ind. Com.Holguin e Hijos, 6%; Grupo Estela, 6%; Novos Distribución y Exportación de Perú, 4%; Especerias del Sur, 4%; Industrias San Pedro, 2%, and others 15%.
