New Australian citrus crop yields smaller sizes
Early indications are that the crop is slightly up compared to last season. Fruit size is currently a little on the smaller side. However, recent good weather may see fruit peaking on counts 72/88.
On the back of an excellent season in 2016 Gold Anda are seeking increased supply with arrangements in place to move more of the smaller fruit to China - in particular count 88.
To continue the enhanced reputation in China of the Nippy label, shipping will not commence until brix levels are satisfactory to meet the consumers expectations. The first shipments are expected to depart in the first or second week of June for a late June arrival.
Last year, Chinese fruit importer and exporter Gold Anda and Australian Nippy's Waikerie Producers have announced that Gold Anda will become the sole representative of Nippy's Waikerie Producers' fresh citrus and fruit juice exports to China. Gold Anda is a Chinese grower, packer and trader from Shenzhen with a presence across China. Nippy's Waikerie Producers are a citrus grower, packer and processor from Southern Australia.
