China: Garlic prices keep going down

Today the trade of garlics moved slowly in the commodity futures market in China, and the purchasers are still speculating. In the meantime, the supply of dehydrated garlic has increased, causing bigger pressure on the sales of the fresh ones in stock and bringing down the prices further. The sales volume was low and the orders were mostly from those who needed garlic for peeling or reselling.

Sales at the Jingxiang Market went slowly today, and the prices of new and old garlic varied. Fresh garlic in the market was not a fast seller either because most purchasers are still carefully speculating. Due to the price drop of fresh garlic in the market, as well as a lower supply of dehydrated ones, only those who buy garlic to peel placed their orders as usual. In addition, the growers of garlic were also less motivated, causing the supply to decrease slightly in the afternoon. Even though the overall price went up a bit, the difference was not striking.
