Stable increase in Chinese demand for imported apples

"Compared to the domestic produce, the quality and taste of imported apples are better. The variety is also more diverse. Moreover, the level of consumption of the people is also increasing year by year. This leads to a tendency in the past few years where the import volume to China has been increasing non-stop," says Mr. Ma Wenwei from Shunde Fengguopin (Shanghai).

"The apples that are imported into China mainly come from New Zealand, the US and Chile. They mainly enter the Chinese market in Guangdong and Shanghai. As a difference from the past few years, the amount of imported fresh apples showed a downward trend in 2016. In that year, China imported 67,000 tons of apples for a total import value of 123 million USD. These were respective drops of 23% and 16% compared to the same period in 2015. There are many reasons for this situation. The foremost reason was that the larger market environment was in a state of depression. Fortunately, the import market has started to recover gradually since the beginning of the year. At the beginning of April, the market started to stabilise and the demand gradually increased again."

"As a professional company for the import of fruits, purchases and sales, we have our own factory and orchard in Southeast Asia. We also have wholesale stands at several cities in China. With cooperation for direct harvest from production places outside China and direct dealership as a method, we import several excellent fruit varieties. We sell them to Wal-Mart, Lianhua and Tesco supermarkets all over China and we also have an online store and o2o (Online-to-offline) stores."
