CHEP to sponsor Hort Connections 2017

Combining the National Horticulture Convention and PMA Fresh Connections, Hort Connections 2017 brings together the largest number of growers, supply chain members, government stakeholders and industry service providers in the Australian horticulture industry.

CHEP has announced it will be a platinum sponsor of the upcoming Hort Connections event, which will be held at the Adelaide Convention Centre from 15-17 May 2017.

CEO of PMA Australia-New Zealand, Darren Keating speaks about CHEP’s support over the years. “We are delighted to have CHEP on board again as a platinum sponsor. With so much of our produce moving efficiently from farm to retail stores every day with the help of CHEP’s solutions, it is fitting that CHEP can play such an important role at this world-class event for the entire value chain in the Australasian fresh fruit, vegetable and floral industry.” he added.

At this event, CHEP will engage with attendees from the fresh industry, showcasing their new range of solutions including platform solutions, value chain analysis, international solutions and store solutions. These solutions are designed to help growers, retailers, manufacturers and transporters transform their supply chains for sustainable, positive long-term change.
CHEP will also be hosting a crate building challenge with prizes awarded to the fastest crate builder, including an Apple Watch. Prizes will also be handed out for participation.

At the trade show, attendees will be given the opportunity to speak with CHEP’s experienced team and see their broad range of sustainable platforms. Also at the show attendees will able to discuss how CHEP can partner with their business to increase sales, optimise produce quality and freshness from harvest to consumption, find new efficiencies, eliminate waste and lower costs.

CHEP has also been nominated as a finalist for the 2017 National Awards for Excellence in two categories – Community Stewardship and Innovation Partners. The nominations recognise the role CHEP plays in addressing issues of food security and food waste alongside its supply chain partners, working with food banks around the world, applying its logistics and supply chain expertise, providing innovative platforms to share and reuse, donating funds and giving its employees opportunities to volunteer.

Adam Pfeiffer, CHEP’s director of key accounts and fresh, said “With rising fruit and vegetable consumption, a focus on maximising shelf life, reducing waste and lowering costs; we recognise that it is important for a company’s supply chain to be efficient, streamlined and customer-centric in order to grow in the competitive fresh produce industry.

“By enabling customers to outsource, share and reuse platforms, we encourage supply chains within the fresh produce industry to use higher quality platforms, connect seamlessly with more trading partners, reduce transportation, generate less waste, use fewer natural resources, lower platform inventories and attain the many efficiencies of standardisation.

“Hort Connections is the industry event for growers, retailers, transporters, along with industry partners in the fresh produce industry to discuss with us how we can work together to improve performance within their supply chains”, said Mr Pfeiffer.

The trade show, sponsored by Fresh Markets Australia (FMA) and the Central Markets Association of Australia (CMAA), will officially begin on Monday 15 May from 6:30pm and will run until 17 May. At the trade show, CHEP will be located at stand 108 and 109. Attendees are encouraged to visit the stand to discuss their supply chain and learn more about how they can work with CHEP to execute the world’s best practices.
