Besana UK Limited expands its facilities in Ipswich

Besana UK Limited, a major supplier of private label nuts, seeds and dried fruits to UK multiple-retailers, as well as in bulk to industrial and catering customers, are actively investing in the expansion of their packing operation based in Ipswich - having spent more than £3,000,000 on the facility over the last three years and scheduling a further £3,000,000 through 2017/18.

This investment has been approved so as to double the production capacity through the newly built plant from 4000 to 8000 metric tonnes per annum, as well as to offer their customers a greater range of packaging options. This range now includes: quadraseal packs; pillow packs; re-sealable doy packs; nets; loose packs and snack pots.

The Besana UK operation currently has 7 packing lines and 2500 pallet spaces within the raw material and finished goods warehouses with space available for further expansion as required.

The Group's Italian factory, based in Naples, also continues to grow and investments within continue apace. A total of 35 packing lines are now in position there, all supported by an industry leading specialist laboratory and quality assurance teams. Pasteurisation technology enabling a 5 log microbial reduction and other heat treatment processes augment the Besana Group's position as a leading supplier of safe, high quality nuts, seeds and dried fruits to the world. Roasted, caramelised, chopped, sliced, flaked, ground, paste, spiced, seasoned and smoked nuts are all process options available within this plant.

A recent addition is Besana Italy's new 'nut free' facility which can immediately offer bulk product as well as small sachets of circa. 10 grammes each. This latter item is proving extremely popular with European salad and ready-meal manufacturers.

Finally, a wholly owned chocolate plant, Vittoria Chocolatery, located in Ogliastro Cilento, is able to produce a variety of high quality chocolate and yoghurt coated items including: dragees, eggs, bars and dipped fruits.
