"Chile: "We will have nearly 500,000kg of Autumn Royal this year"

Even though this year's volume will be 10% lower than in the previous year, Rucaray hopes it will be able to meet the demand of all the countries that make up its customer network. This year they are expecting their biggest ever export of Autumn Royals. They are currently harvesting the grapes which belong to the Black Seedless Group, Autumn Royal. These are destined for the USA (75%), China (15%) and Russia (5%). The remaining 5% is for the domestic market, stated Alexis Lara, head of the technical department at Rucaray.

The market situation for this type of grape is good at the moment. Last year China paid 30 to 34 dollars for the grapes, and the USA paid 26 to 28 dollars, so the company expects prices will be similar to those obtained in 2016. In addition, due to "our harvest dates and the difficulty to produce this variety, we are quite alone in the market," said Lara.
