The Ya is a pear variety that is well-known in northern China, in the Hebei province, and which is replacing other varieties to meet the market's new demands. Los Angeles and New York are the main destinations for this fruit, according to Mr Wang, of the company BOTOU YAFENG FRUIT CO.,LTD. However, Europe is one of the next destinations and they hope to take a share of the market, thanks to the quality of the product, as well as to the company's unique packaging.
Not only does the fruit arrive in great condition, but the container's ease of transport and space saving, together with its look on supermarket shelves, gives the fruit added value. "This box was designed a few years ago and we are aware that it has become very popular among consumers," explains Mr Wang. According to Wang, "Ya and Nashi pear varieties will be available for sale in their special packaging from September to May."
