Mexico opens new markets in South America, Asia, and Europe

The US is dependent on Mexican pineapples

Mexico has too much strength to continue worrying about exports to the United States. Companies in the State of Veracruz are preparing more efficient strategies to guarantee the quality of their products in response to Trump's economic policy of rejecting Mexican produce, as recently happened with avocados.

Juan Cruz Elvira, the CEO of the Corporate Business Center LLC company, which is located in Miami, said exports have consolidated because Americans were dependent on some products that only Mexico produces, such as pineapples.

The town of Isla, Veracruz, exports 40,000 tons of pineapples worth one hundred million dollars per year to the United States.

"America needs pineapples because it doesn't produce them itself. Costa Rica stopped producing them, so we are the only ones supplying the US and our product is certified by international organizations," said Cruz Elvira, who is also the director of the Grupo Constructor in the town of Isla, Veracruz.

The CEO of the Port Authority of Veracruz (API), Juan Ignacio Fernandez Carbajal, said that, despite Trumps actions and threats, the port continues to ship more and more cargo to that country. In February, the port moved 10 percent more merchandise.

Fernandez Carbajal said that, thanks to Trump's threats, Mexican exporters were opening new markets in South America, Asia, and Europe, which means that the port will continue to grow without relying on the United States.
