China: Customs post in Luohu district impounds illegal fertilizers

On the 18th of January, while staff members of the Inspection and Quarantine Services in Luohu district (Guangdong province) were examining the luggage of a traveller who wanted to enter the country, they intercepted 15 bags of unknown powder-shaped articles with a total weight of 15 kilograms. Upon investigation this was recognized as GOODbacteria fertilizer. The particles were light yellow and had a strong stench to them. There was no description on the package. The traveller claimed he bought the goods in Taiwan and that it was a new type of biotechnological product for farmers. Because the traveller involved could not show the relevant certificates, the staff members retained the aforementioned commodities for further investigation.
