Apples for Education Campaign

When a St. Louis Park Middle School teacher recognized a hunger need in her school, she took action.

French teacher Jenny Puzzo motivated students and their families to participate in the Apples For Education Campaign.

“Pretty soon we had all these pictures with kids with apples and they were able to share those and post them online and we won the grant from the Apple Growers Association,” Puzzo said.

The campaign delivered a $5,000 check to the school.

Puzzo says the funding will allow her a full food pantry stocked with healthy items for students.

“This is fantastic, not only for the kids to see that they actually made a difference, but they made a difference in their own community, said Puzzo. “That they're able to benefit kids that they go to school with but they might not know."

St. Louis Park was one of just a handful of schools across the country to receive a grant.
