“We are quite proud to have been nominated for the Fruit Logistica Innovation Award for the second time,” says Hans Keijzer, manager of ZTI smart machines. “In 2014, our Destemmer — which de-stems grapes, vine tomatoes, dates, etc. — was nominated for the FLIA, and in 2017, our new machine, the Mango Peeler-de-Cheeker, competes for the award.”
The Mango Peeler-de-Cheeker has been nominated, among other things, because of its modernised peeling method, for this is not ‘spiral shaped,’ as is the case with many other peeling machines. The Mango Peeler-de-Cheeker peels the mango top-to-bottom, ensuring a so-called manual cut.
Furthermore, the fruit is carried on the pit, increasing shelf life of the final product. Finally, it also processes 40 mangoes per minute. Because of those large amounts, the ROI becomes attractive for large processors quite quickly.
Keijzer: “We think it is wonderful that we have been nominated. The machine enjoys much international interest, and we are pleased the first orders have been placed. Being nominated for the FLIA obviously makes our company and machines better-known. We are looking forward to the responses at the Fruit Logistica, and afterwards. Hopefully, the voting public will be as enthusiastic about the machine as we are.”
