Binding machine for flowers used more often for fresh produce

“Flowers are often bound by an elastic band. It is a common and logical way to create a nice bouquet from loose flowers, but we have noticed it being used more and more in the fruit and vegetable sector,” says Hans Peelen of Sarco Packaging. “For products such as herbs, asparagus, carrots, radishes, beetroot, celery, and rhubarb, the choice is made to bind them together. More products are being left open, rather than being wrapped in plastic. Fresh products are not naturally suited for packaging and the customer gets a feeling of tradition when the product is open to the air in supermarkets.”

“Of course, fruits and vegetables have different properties than a bouquet of flowers. That is why there is a suitable elastic band for every product, so it will not damage the product. It is also possible to add a label to the elastic band. The date of packaging will be mentioned on the label, which might also have the corporate identity of your company. Companies that produce or package products such as leeks and pineapples can be recognized in the supermarkets because of the unique label,” Hans concludes.
