The event also welcomed more than 40,000 visitors. The symposium touched on fresh fruit, dried fruit, processing, mechanised installations for orchards, agricultural funds, seedlings and other topics. It can be said that it was the largest edition in the history of the Apple Exhibition event.

Professor Ma Fengwang presented the closing ceremony

During the closing ceremony, the executive member of the council of the International Gardening association, Jill Stanley, read a statement of intent for this year's exhibition: to rely on the Southern and Northern agriculture and forestry technology universities to build an international apple research institution and to establish an international data centre. It also appealed to scholars and leading figures in the apple trade, from all over the world, to join forces to strengthen cooperation and mutual benefit, and to push forward developments in the apple industry. At the same time, the organisational committee also announced that the next symposium would be held in Italy.

The chairman and vice-chairman of the International Gardening Association also reached a common understanding with the chairman of this year's symposium, Ma Fengwang, and the chief of Shaanxi fruit industry, Gao Wubin, during talks. In the future, Shaanxi will hold two more international meetings, namely the International Kiwi Development Forum and the World Fruit Juice Convention.

The symposium also heralded the establishment of the new Silk Road Apple Industry Union. The union will nurture further development of diplomacy between the countries on the silk road, such as Europe, Central Asia and Turkey. This will advance the apple trade and help build a connection throughout the whole apple industry.
