Sweet Sensation fully available again

The Dutch Sweet Sensation was picked last week and is fully available again as of this week. "There is a lot of interest from various customers again and we expect a good sales season. Due to the warm weather in recent weeks the pear is of excellent eating quality. The volume is comparable to that of last season, although the size is slightly coarser. We expect another good pack-out," according to sales coordinator, Ton van Wiggen, of The Greenery.

"The sales season is expected to run until mid March 2017. The Sweet Sensation is also being grown in an increasing amount of countries, including in the Southern Hemisphere, which means we expect a year round supply in a few years."

Defining
Sweet Sensation defines itself by colour and flavour, compared to all other pears, and can therefore enjoy a global demand. Besides Europe, the pear had an excellent reception at Asia Fruit Logistica last month, which means volume is being exported to this new market this year.

European marketing campaign
Sweet Sensation is once again recognisable by its defining brand identity. With the slogan 'Love at First Bite' a number of market campaigns are being started again this season, including in-store demonstrations, on-pack promotions, various adverts and a European consumer campaign, which will further empasise the defining characteristics of the pear with both retailers and consumers.

Packaging
The Sweet Sensation pear is available in one or two layer packaging, with a recognisable Sweet Sensation box and PLU sticker, or packaged in fours in an attractive consumer package.
